Faculty who are employed during the Fall semester (in August) have the option to receive their 9.5-month academic year salary in 19 installments. This election divides the academic year salary amount by 19 instead of 14, with FICA and withholding taxes deducted each month based on the twelve-month pay option gross. Faculty who elect this option will receive monthly compensation from August 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, then semi-monthly compensation starting January 1, 2027 through August 15, 2027.
For questions regarding the change to semi-monthly compensation, please see more information regarding the change to semi-monthly payroll using this link.
To calculate your pay based on the 9.5 or 12 month option, please review this example faculty pay model.
Please note:
- This option does not affect employment or benefit status.
- Faculty who start after the August 10 deadline for this election are not eligible for 9 over 12, until the following August.
- Current faculty who wish to move back to a 9 month basis may use this form to do so. The deadline to elect or revoke is August 10th.
- Eligibility: Full Time Regular Faculty. Adjuncts and Full Time Temporary Lecturers are not eligible for this election. For questions regarding eligibility, please reach out to your Dean's Office and the Office of the Provost.
Once the faculty member has agreed to this arrangement, it may not be revoked for that academic year. As with any tax matter, a personal tax counselor should be consulted for any questions.
