How do I access my Total Compensation Statement?
Your personalized statement will be accessible within Ignite beginning December 2, 2024. To view the step-by-step instructions on how to view your statement within Ignite, please reference the Total Compensation Statement job aid.
What is the importance of having a Total Compensation Statement?
Baylor is committed to providing employees with a competitive and robust compensation package. Your personalized statement is part of the University’s ongoing commitment to transparency and ensuring we provide a full and clear view into the value of your rewards and benefits as a Baylor employee.
Why is my statement not comprised for a regular calendar year?
We recognize employees may have important conversations surrounding financial matters toward the end of each year, and this December 1 (of the prior year) through December 1 (of the current year) time period allows employees to have this comprehensive document available prior to leaving campus for Christmas break while still reflecting one full year’s worth of salary.
Who else can see my statement?
Only you can see your Total Compensation Statement within Ignite. Please note, Human Resource employees may access your Total Compensation Statement to assist with any potential questions.
Can managers view Total Compensation Statements for their direct reports?
No, managers do not have access to view Total Compensation Statements for their direct reports.
Why don’t I have a Total Compensation Statement?
Total Compensation Statements are available for all active faculty, staff and coaches in regular (non-temporary) positions. Statements are not available for student employees, contingent workers, or temporary faculty and staff. If you believe you have been misclassified, please contact your assigned HR Consultant.
I’ve been employed for less than 1 year, will I get a Total Compensation Statement?
Yes, if you hold a regular (non-temporary) position a personalized statement will be available to you that reflects the compensation and benefit information for the time you have been employed at Baylor.
I have questions regarding tuition remission on my Total Compensation Statement, who can I contact for help?
If your child(ren) attend Baylor and you do not see tuition remission on your Total Compensation Statement, we ask that you please verify if your student(s) tuition remission benefit is linked to you or your spouse via BearWeb. The tuition remission benefit will only reflect on the statement for the employee that the tuition remission benefit is linked to. It’s also important to note that the amount listed on your statement is reflective of the tuition benefits during the December 1 (of the prior year) through December 1 (of the current year). If you need further assistance, please email askHR@baylor.edu.
I have questions regarding tuition reimbursement, who can I contact for help?
Non-taxable tuition reimbursement payments are processed through Baylor’s Accounts Payable Office and are not included on your Total Compensation Statement, as reimbursement is determined on an individual basis. If your tuition reimbursement payment is a taxable benefit, your statement should reflect that amount accordingly. Click here for additional information regarding Tuition Reimbursement. If you need further assistance, please email askHR@Baylor.edu.
What if I changed positions during the year?
Your statement reflects your annualized base pay for your current, regular (non-temporary) position as of December 1.
What if I hold multiple assignments?
If you have multiple regular (non-temporary) assignments, these assignments will be combined into one comprehensive personalized Total Compensation Statement.
Why doesn’t my base pay match the year-to-date gross earnings on my pay slip?
Your pay slip reflects your gross earnings for the current year as of the date of your latest pay slip. Your Total Compensation Statement reflects your full, annualized base pay as of December 1, 2024, for the position you currently hold and these dollar amounts will not be an exact match.
Does my base pay include my merit increase from August?
If you received a merit increase during the most recent merit cycle in August, then yes. Your base pay amount is inclusive of your most recent merit increase.
I have a retroactive item on my statement. What does this mean?
A retroactive item happens when a payroll element, such as a vacation day, is approved after a payroll cycle has processed.
My pay slip provides much of the same information included on my Total Compensation Statement. What’s the difference?
Your personalized statement provides a much broader view into your full compensation package with Baylor. Your statement is an easy-to-read resource that in addition to base pay, provides benefits such as tuition remission/reimbursement and Baylor advantages that are not generally included on pay slips.
Why doesn’t my base pay match my most recent W-2?
Your W-2 reflects earnings for a full calendar year (January 1 – December 31). Your Total Compensation Statement reflects your annualized base pay as of December 1, 2024, not including tax deductions; therefore, the earnings will be not an exact match.
Does the retirement section include all retirement contributions since being hired at Baylor?
Your statement reflects contributions made by both you and the University during the December 1 (of the prior year) through December 1 (of the current year). As a reminder, Baylor does not begin its generous 10.8% contribution until you have been employed in a regular (non-temporary) position for at least 1 year. If you have been employed for less than 1 year and are actively making employee contributions, those will be reflected under the “Your Contributions” column on your statement. If you have any questions or concerns related to your retirement account, you can click here to visit TIAA®.
Can I see my statement for a different time period?
Statements will be provided on an annual basis, with a one year look back period, and available within Ignite as of December 2024. Statements cannot be generated on an ad-hoc basis for a different time period.
How often will my statement be updated?
Baylor University will provide updated Total Compensation Statements annually in December.
I never use my vision insurance, dental insurance, or another plan/policy reflected on my statement. Can I cancel that deduction?
You can add, remove, or modify benefit coverage during the regular annual open enrollment period. Changes outside of the open enrollment period are generally not permitted, unless you experience a qualifying life event. If you would like to inquire about potential changes to a plan/policy, outside of the annual open enrollment period, please email askHR@baylor.edu.
I don’t know what some of the items on my statement are. Where can I go to understand what each item is?
You can reference the Total Compensation Statement glossary for more details.
How much vacation and health leave time do I get each year as staff?
If you have a question related to staff vacation time you can click here to review Baylor’s Vacation Time policy or click here to review the Health Leave policy.
Why doesn’t my statement show a dollar amount next to University holidays?
University holiday hours on your statement are reflected as “up to 152 hours”. Paid holiday hours are based on your regular working schedule. For example, staff who regularly work 40 hours per week, equivalent to 8 hours per day, are paid 8 hours of holiday pay. Staff who generally work less than 40 hours per week will be paid for their regularly scheduled working hours for University holidays. You can click here to review Baylor’s current holiday schedule, and click here to review the Holiday Time policy.
Can I use my Total Compensation Statement for employment or income verification?
No. This statement is intended for personal review of information only and should not be utilized for official employment or income verification purposes.
