Baylor University extends beyond the classroom in its mission to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service through its summer program offerings. Summer programs range from athletics/recreation, sports management, music, ministry and more.
Steps to Apply for Summer Camp Worker Positions
For an opportunity to participate as a camp worker for one of the University's summer programs, take the following steps:
- Visit the summer programs website and contact the Camp Director for more information. They will confirm with you if an application is needed.
- As a new hire, you will submit an application through the link provided by the Camp Director for the summer program of interest.
- All camp workers are expected to follow Ignite hiring procedures. If you have not previously completed new hire paperwork with Baylor previously, you will need to complete it before starting work. New tasks include:
- Complete a background check. You will receive an email with instructions from HireRight, the University's third-party vendor.
• Complete Federal I-9 (permitted documents)
• Confidentiality Agreement
• Drug & Alcohol Policy Agreement
• Memorandum of Understanding
• Enroll in Direct Deposit
• Confirm Home Address for Tax Withholding - If your camp involves minors, you will be required to have an updated background check and complete youth protection training.
- Confirm with your Camp Director that you are eligible to work prior to the first day of camp.

Who needs to fill out a background check?
If your camp involves minors, you will be required to have an updated background check and complete youth protection training. A background check needs to be done every 2 years.
Why do I need to fill out a background check?
Because you will be working with minors, Baylor policy requires a background check to be in compliance with University Risk Management. HireRight, Inc. (HireRight), a leading provider of on-demand background screening services, will be used to complete all background checks.
How do I do a background check?
You will be receiving an email from HireRight, on behalf of Baylor University, providing you with instructions for completing the electronic consent and disclosure form. You will be required to provide personal information including but not limited to, address, phone numbers, date of birth, and social security number. Please watch for the email from HireRight and proceed promptly to avoid delays in the hiring process. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder, as this email may be filtered based on your email settings.
Who do I contact if I do not get an email from HireRight?
First confirm that the email from HireRight did not go to your junk/spam folder. If you do not receive the email in the next 24 hours or if you have any questions, please contact Human Resources at 254-710-2000.
Can I work if I haven't done my background check?
In order to start working, new hires must complete all new hire paperwork including the background check. Returning workers may need to complete youth protection training and background if not current with policy guidelines.
How long does a background check take once it is filled out?
Depending on the information provided, background checks can take up to 14 business days if there are any unexpected delays.
A spouse will stay in the dorm overnight in the girl's wing. Does she also have to do a background check and the training?
Yes, they must complete a background check and youth protection training based on responsibilities and level of access to minor participants. Connect with your Camp Director for processing.

Camp workers need to do the following:
- Apply for desired position
- Accept job offer in Ignite
- Provide personal information to HireRight to Initiate background check
- Complete onboarding tasks in Ignite
- Submit timecards in Ignite according to the Biweekly Payroll schedule
How will I be paid for working at a Summer Camp?
All camp workers working for an internal Summer Camp are considered employees of Baylor University and must be paid through our Payroll department per Federal Employment guidelines. Camp workers are not eligible to receive payments as a supplier through our Procurement Office that would result in a W-9.
Why can't I get to my Timecard?
If you find you don’t have access to a timecard, check the following:
First, you must complete all onboarding tasks including bringing original documentation for your Federal I-9 to the HR Suite 200 in the Clifton Robinson Tower. If this is done and you still have trouble accessing your timecard, please contact Human Resources at 254-710-2000.
Will the Camp Directors turn in my hours for me to get paid?
Camp workers are responsible for submitting all hours worked on their timecard in Ignite according to the Biweekly Payroll Schedule.
Questions About Box
When I open the Box folder it says the page does not exist. Should I upload the staff and the documents to the same folders as last year?
No information should be added to the folder from last year. New box folder invitations will be sent out once camps are approved through Institutional Events and sent to HR for outreach. If the hiring manager is someone other than the Camp Director, they will have to be given access to the folder by that Camp Director.

- "My Team" at the top page of Ignite
- Click the words "show more" on the left side
- Scroll down to Time and click "Team Time Cards"
- You will see this screen (below) and you will need to close all filters clicking on the "x"
