Individual BaylorPLUS Recognition

Jan Kyster

Department: Undergraduate Admissions

"I want to nominate Jan Kyster for a Baylor PLUS salute because she is an amazing supervisor and leader. She is always available for her team, she gets the answers we need in a timely fashion so we can get our work done, and she is always so supportive. Her role has changed throughout her time at Baylor but she has consistently been an excellent coworker/peer, and now supervisor. She has all the attributes we want in someone representing Baylor."

Nicole Niessen

Department: Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences

"Dr. Nicole Niessen is constantly making herself available to students needs from her classes and from the clinical practicum she manages for students across the country. Whether the students are in the field for practicum or learning in the classroom, she is there to support their development and minister to various needs that arise. Students know they can come to her and she will encourage them, pray for them and teach them excellent evidence based practice. Working with her is a joy as she gives all of her energy to doing her best, caring for others and making Baylor a wonderful place for students and co-workers."

Erin Stamile

Department: Honors College

"The seismic shifts in the higher education enrollment landscape seem far less problematic when I'm working with Erin. Her agile mind, capacious heart, and sanguine spirit foster camaraderie and inspire respect. She's brilliant and our Honors College recruitment and retention efforts are better, stronger for Erin Stamile's inestimable leadership."

Landa Jacobo

Department: Libraries Texas Collection

"After a May rainstorm caused roof damage and cascading water to infiltrate the elevator in Carroll Library and put it out of commission, the top floor of the four-story building became accessible only by multiple flights of stairs. Texas Collection Office Manager Landa Jacobo, who also manages the building, not only was immediately on top of the situation, she has stayed abreast and communicated with those inside and outside Carroll. She has gone above and beyond in helping relocate a staff member from the top floor who can't manage stairs--even helping carry materials for her to a borrowed first floor office."

Maddie Collins

Department: Procurement & Payment Services

"Maddie is an amazing asset to Baylor! She has truly made the supplier registration process seamless and efficient. Maddie's availability and unwavering professionalism have been instrumental in achieving this success. Due to Maddie's capable assistance and eagerness to assist, I have been able to better serve our Faculty and Staff on numerous occasions. In doing so, our entire team within Financial and Business Services have been successful."

Linda Cortez

Department: Student Life

"Linda has been instrumental in assisting other departments in securing funding and mission critical supplies. I am so grateful for her steadfastness and tenacity to ensure we have the necessary equipment to achieve success not only for other staff but ultimately the student population. She goes above and beyond for us, often handling numerous projects behind the scenes. Thanks for being a rockstar!"

KJ Mikulencak

Department: Libraries

"I came to the Makerspace to make some wood laser cutouts and KJ was extremely helpful. She patiently and expertly taught me how to use the technology and even assisted in making my desired designs. She helped me go through trial runs until I had my final design lasered and put together. She has been wonderful at communicating and ensuring I have everything I need going above and beyond. She truly made the design process a wonderful experience and deserves recognition for her hard work."

"KJ graciously gave her time to assist with a conference giveaway. She trained a student employee, guided us through ordering supplies and offered her creative ideas. KJ was patient with our requests and enthusiastic about supporting our vision. She offered ideas that were well beyond what the anticipated giveaway would be and encouraged our exploration of the design process in the Makerspace. KJ's generous spirit and visionary leadership are a huge benefit to the University. Thank you KJ!!"

Christina Rains

Department: Undergraduate Admissions

"Christina is responsible for so much and is constantly working, all in an attempt to help other people and our department. She is always kind and calm, even though there has to be times when it feels out of control. She keeps processes moving forward, keeps our team accountable, and helps us meet our financial goals. She is never one to complain and has a great sense of humor. We are better because of her attention to detail and the diligence with which she completes her work. She is a critical part of the Enrollment Management team - who knows where we would be without her!"

Mackenzie Morris

Department: Undergraduate Admissions

"Mackenzie has proven to be an integral part of the Daily Visit operation for prospective students and their guests. She has jumped in and learned quickly how to function in new systems and processes while at the same time getting to know students and her colleagues. She has a great attitude and comes to work every day ready to work hard but also have fun. She responds fast, communicates clearly and can think on her feet. She has already contributed so much to Undergraduate Admissions and Baylor as a whole. She hustles and has those same high expectations of the students she supervises, but is an exceptional role model, team player and coworker. She's the best and we are grateful for her!"

Jeff Doss

Department: Student Financial Aid

"I so appreciate Jeff's hard work and grace as he helped our department handle last-minute scholarship awards. I can imagine how busy and stressful it is in the Financial Aid office right before a payment deadline, yet he has been nothing but professional and diligent, and I'm so thankful for his assistance. He's wonderful!"

Team BaylorPLUS Recognition

Department: Libraries / Texas Collection

"After a May rainstorm caused roof damage and cascading water to infiltrate the elevator in Carroll Library and put it out of commission, the top floor of the four-story building became accessible only by multiple flights of stairs. A staff member from the top floor who can't manage stairs needed to be moved into a borrowed first floor office.  Thanks to Library and Technology Services working in cooperation with IT, her computer was quickly relocated and available, allowing her to miss only minimal work time. After that, she was relocated to an accessible temporary office in Texas Collection space on the first floor. At every turn, the faculty and staff of The Texas Collection have assisted in multiple ways, graciously allowing use of not only the office but also their meeting space and providing hands to help with relocating items and carrying supplies and other necessities up and down stairs. Although it may be a while before the employee returns to her permanent office, in the meantime, she continues to work efficiently thanks to the responsiveness and hospitality of these amazing groups of people. They have indeed earned a BaylorPLUS Salute!"
