Staff Performance Review Process

Performance Review

The staff performance review process will launch in early March. More information – including timelines and instructions for completing the process in Ignite - will be provided in the coming weeks. There are some steps you can take now to work towards a smooth and meaningful review process.

You may recall that last year’s reviews did not include a mandatory section for formalizing goals and no goal data was captured within the performance management system. An optional Word document was available as a template for those who wanted to track goals outside of the system, but it was not a requirement.

If you have opted to work with your manager to create and track goals for 2020, you can begin to prepare for the upcoming review process by entering those into Ignite now. There are job aids available for guidance on the Ignite Training webpage or by clicking the link for Entering and Updating Performance Goals. There is also a Goal Management for Managers job aid. Please note, after entering, updating, and marking goals complete in Ignite your manager will be required to give approval in Ignite before the goal is available in the system. If you plan to record goals in the system, please ensure that you do so no later than February 28, 2021.

If you do not have goals from 2020, it will pose no problem for the 2020 performance review process and Ignite will help to guide you through the goal setting process for 2021.

Please stay tuned for more information in coming weeks on how to navigate the performance review process in the best possible way. In a year of unique challenges where job responsibilities, work locations, and even reporting relationships may have shifted, we’ll be focusing on the tools and training to help you, your manager, and your department create a review that captures your work of last year and plans for the year ahead.
