Helping Team Members with Anxiety

October 19, 2023

Since the pandemic, the World Health Organization found that anxiety and depression have increased by 25 percent. As a manager it is not your job to diagnose mental health disorders in employees however you can foster an environment where employees who report experiencing anxiety feel supported.

Tips for Managers

  • Communicate Openly.  Open communication allows managers to alleviate anxiety in team members by reducing the unknown.
  • Model Self-Care.  By modeling self-care, managers signal to employees that it is acceptable for them to do the same.
  • Provide Employees with Available Resources.  Here at Baylor, employees have access to Right Now Media, the Employee Assistance Program, and behavioral health services through UMR and Teladoc.
