Manager Tools: IDP and Feedback Tracking

October 19, 2023

We have recently added two more optional tools to the Manager Toolkits & Guides webpage: an Individual Development Plan (IDP) template and a Feedback Tracking Document. See below to learn more.

The Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a simple document to help supervisors and their direct reports identify and plan specific career development opportunities. This is meant to be a living and changing document that fosters an interactive discussion between each supervisor and employee. As such, the IDP should help in identifying the skills and abilities employees are seeking to enhance or develop as well as identifying the action steps, costs, and target completion dates for said action items. Please note, this form is not to be confused with a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) which is used to document and correct poor performance.

The Feedback Tracking Document is a simple spreadsheet meant to make it easier to track both corrective and celebratory feedback for each employee on your team. This makes it easier to identify and document trends and patterns, help ensure you are providing both types of feedback on a regular basis, remember the successes and challenges of each year, and should make it much easier to complete the annual performance review.
