Spiritual Wellbeing Support for Leaders - Managing Anxiety

November 28, 2023

The Bible tells us “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” - Philippians 4:4-5 (NIV) How do you seek the Lord and lean on him in order to manage your anxiety?

This month, we finish our 6-part series Managing Anxiety: Yours & Theirs by Steve Cuss. Session 6, Differentiation, focuses on how to manage anxiety in all four spaces Steve identified in Session 1, The Four Spaces of Anxiety, by using the concept of differentiation.

As a reminder, the four spaces of anxiety are:

  • The space inside you
  • The space between you and the other
  • The space inside the other
  • The space between others

As Steve explains, “Anxiety carries a message that keeps you stuck and trapped, but you can learn to notice when you are living by that message of anxiety and replace it with a true belief of freedom and peace.”

If you are struggling with managing anxiety, Baylor’s Employee Assistance Program (“EAP”) is a free, confidential resource available to you and your immediate family.

We hope you have enjoyed this series and that it has helped provide you with usable tools to manage anxiety. If you have suggestions for spiritual wellbeing topics you would like us to include in future issues of Leading @ BU, please provide us with that feedback via this link.
