Performance Review Discussions and Sign Offs

April 19, 2024

A common question is when do you release the review to the employee? It’s your discretion whether you release it before or during/after the performance discussion and there are pros and cons of either way. However, we typically find it’s best in most situations to release it a few hours in advance. That gives them time to read, think about, and process the review and to come to the discussion prepared with questions without being so far in advance that they lose sleep about it. That said, whenever you decide to release it, be sure to do it the same for all of the employees reporting to you.

When holding the discussion be sure to schedule plenty of time so you aren’t rushed. It’s helpful to find a friendly, neutral location where you won’t be disturbed for the conversation. Some managers will use an empty conference room, or even meet for coffee and find a quiet space to talk.

After that, the next step is for you to sign off in Ignite by indicating when the meeting was held. Once you’ve done that, they will be able to go into Ignite and sign off by confirming the meeting date.

Please note, they can’t sign off until you do.

After everything wraps up on Friday the 26th, the merit process will begin. Additionally, the goals module will be opened in Ignite the first week in May.
