UPDATE – December 2024 Monthly Payroll Date Change

February 4, 2024
Baylor University Shifts December Monthly Payroll Date to Align with Last Weekday of the Month

After much consideration and feedback, Baylor University will adjust the December payroll date for monthly paid faculty and staff to the last weekday of the month for monthly paid faculty and staff. This adjustment will avoid a potential 6-week pay gap for monthly paid faculty and staff and provide a more consistent payroll experience. This adjustment will be effective in December 2024.

A driving factor for this change is the desire to provide greater financial stability for faculty and staff during the holiday season and beginning of the new year. With many financial commitments and expenses arising in January, having the December payroll date coincide with the last weekday of the month ensures that faculty and staff have access to their funds in a consistent manner and avoid a potential 6-week gap in receiving a paycheck.

Baylor University recognizes the importance of timely and predictable payroll for its faculty and staff. This adjustment ensures that employees can plan their finances more effectively, especially during a time of increased expenses associated with the beginning of the new year. The change is expected to contribute to reducing financial stress and uncertainty during the month of January for faculty and staff.
