View Federal Work Study (FWS) Eligibilty in Ignite

February 4, 2024

The Student Employment Team has been working diligently to make it easier for departments to identify and hire FWS eligible students for student employment positions.

When reviewing applications for an open position in Ignite, hiring managers can now see a FWS Eligible Label that identifies which student applicants are FWS Eligible. This new FWS Eligible Label is directly linked to the Financial Aid data in Banner. If a student has the FWS Eligible Label, then they are eligible to receive FWS and their wages may be eligible for the reimbursement incentive. If a student does not have the FWS Eligible Label, they are not currently eligible to receive FWS – but they can still work on campus.

Until now, there was a Prescreening Score available that indicated which students reported that they were FWS eligible. This prescreening score was a temporary solution (based on student responses rather than financial aid data) and it has been removed from Ignite. The new FWS Eligible Label has replaced this prescreening score.

Moving forward, if a hiring manager would like to identify which applicants are FWS Eligible within open job positions, they can follow three easy steps.

  1. Open the job requisition in Ignite.
  2. Select “Active Applications” to see all the students who have applied for the job.
  3. On the right side of the screen, change the “View” from Summary to Student Employment. You will now see the FWS Eligibility of all job applicants.

We have included a pop up in Ignite to help hiring managers locate this new feature.
